The Auction Spring Collection LIVE auction concluded with huge success with a sale turnover of 1,8 million euros and 82% of the lots sold.
Under the hammer of auctioneer Frederik de Backer, the top price of the evening went to LOT#11 spectacular 5YO approved stallion Rummikub de Muze (Nixon x Codex) went for 475 000 Euros to a German buyer in the audience. In second place LOT#20 Kobe R, 7YO KWPN gelding (Zirocco Blue x Canturano I) reached 225 000 Euros and was sold to Mexican buyers through the phone. A strong battle was fought for our third top price LOT#10, 5YO gelding Rinus VD Bisschop (For Pleasure x Radtco d’Houtveld) who was finally bought by Olympic rider Jerome Guery who partnered with Simon Delestre to make the acquisition.
The sale had a certain Olympic flair as LOT#18, 6YO mare by Mosito Van Het Hellehof x Pablo Van Berkenbroeck, Mojito HH went to recently retired Olympic champion Eric Lamaze for 140 000 Euros; and LOT#21, the 7YO mare Pretty Pacolet (Lavillon x Cicero Z) was acquired for French Olympic champion Philippe Rozier by an Swiss owner for 110 000 Euros.
All embryos were sold in the audience and on-line. The top price of 41 000 Euros was reached by LOT#1 Emerald x Kirby de Muze followed by LOT#4 Cornet du Lys x Candy for 39 000 Euros and the female sexed embryo LOT#5 by Chacco-Blue x Elyria Sitte.
A SPECIAL TRIBUTE TO THE WORLD’S BEST BREEDERS
The first edition of the Auction Breeders Awards was held before the start of the sale. The Auction paid tribute to the best breeders of 2021 during an award ceremony Baudouin Rémy, RTBF commentator and comedian, was the master of ceremony with his unique blend of equestrian knowledge and political humor.
Amongst our prestigious guests, Belgium Olympic riders Gregory Wathelet and Niels Bruynseels and European Champion Olivier Philippaerts were on stage to present an award, as well as WBFSH-World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses, general manager Nadine Brandtner.
Amongst the 9 awards recipients were Joris de Brabander, for his mare Derly Chin de Muze; Damien Haelterman, from Haras de Laubry for Cordula de Laubry; and also the ‘godfather of sport horses breeding’ Paul Schockemohle, best breeder of 2021, who made his acceptance speech by video. A special ‘people’s choice Award’ made through social network votes, went to Wim Impens, breeder of Henrick Von Eckermann Olympic superstar, King Edward, who was voted favorite Belgian olympic horse.
Christophe Ameeuw concluded “I am so proud to have here with us tonight in Ecaussinnes some of the best breeders in the world. Belgium a land of breeding, where some of the world’s best sport horses are produced, as we saw in the Olympics in Tokyo. We want to celebrate and say thank you to all the breeders who contribute so much to our sport”.
