INTERVIEW JORIS DEBRABANDER

Considered as one of the best sport horses breeders in the world, Joris De Bradander has agreed to share his experience with The Auction project experts team. He founded the famous De Muze breeding farm, where were born many legends especially thanks to their star mare Fragrance de Chalus.

My mission is to find the best one and a half year old horses, the Yearlings, with the best genetic qualities. This is not my usual way of doing things but I am very glad to have the opportunity to take on a new challenge thanks to The Auction! We will give potential customers the opportunity to purchase products with the best genetics available on the market.

For me, the fundamental criteria for judging a young horse’s aptitudes and potential is his genetics. People often forget, but a horse may morphologically not be able to practice a high-level sport because of his origins. During the selection trials, I watch the young horse jumping a few times but it will never replace the analysis of his genetics which is the basis of everything. This expertise is what I bring to The Auction as an expert in the selection committee.

Christophe Ameeuw knows how to attract people from outside of the show jumping world. This puts extra pressure on us because we must to offer to this sale the very best of the world’s performers. The Auction is for sure a very ambitious long-term project.
